June 25 and 26 will be "Terrell Thomas Celebrity Weekend."
New York Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas will be quite the busy man this coming weekend. On Friday, June 25, Thomas is hosting an "all-star" poker tournament at the Ontario Airport Hilton. According to a recent
blog post found on Terrell Thomas' official website, the all-star charity poker tournament will include both NFL and USC football players. None are named in the Thomas blog post. The event will raise funds for Terrell Thomas Charities.
The next day, Thomas, New York Giants wide receiver
Steve Smith and other members of the USC football community will be hosting a free youth football camp at Rancho Cucamonga High School (located in Rancho Cucamonga, California), which is Thomas' alma mater. The free football camp, according to
We Are SC, is for youths 5-15 years old. All participants will receive refreshments, a commemorative t-shirt and, of course, the opportunity to meet with and work out with professional football players.
As the 2010 NFL preseason rapidly approaches, stories like these will take a backseat to training and injury pieces, season previews and game wrap-ups. Before they give it all on the field of battle, though, it's great to once again see New York Giants players such as Terrell Thomas and Steve Smith give back to the community.
